Showed him my discovery ….Drop all the novels I picked, and Pick 3 Dental books … Oh .. The Geek ego won over the normal Hessah >_<

August 14, 2007 at 12:13 pm (Kuwait, News)

Yes.. Arnold Schwarzenegger himself is visiting Kuwait, reported Arabtimes today

No, He’s not here to star in a movie, nor directing a movie. I doubt that Kuwait will ever be a hollywood destination. (Sigh!!)

.. He’s visiting Kuwait in an official trip as the Governor of California. He is scheduled to meet the directors’ board of Kuwait Cahmper of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and several businessmen. Why would he come for this ? What did the private sector did to Kuwait? Most of the Kuwaiti businessmen invesments are aborad …!!! Did I mention that a number of businessmen from California are palning to accompany the Governor … As Victoria Backham says .. it’s Major, expect to read about deals…

No date had been announced for his arrival …

Skull-A-Day

August 11, 2007 at 11:11 pm (Humor, Lifestyle)

I came across this blog whose owner wants to post a skull’s image everyday for a whole year. The project started on June 07, so there’s a long way for the Skull Lady (That’s the owner Nick-Name) to go. It’s interesting to see how a person can be dedicated for a project for a whole year. I remember 2 years ago, I was checking a blog for the same reason, I’m checking this one.. which is; Will they be able to do it? That person mission was to take a picture a day for a whole year. Same concept.. Different styles and difficult missions…^_^

P.S.: The picture is one of the images posted on the Skull Lady blog ..

Reynolds Chairs of Yew Wood

August 10, 2007 at 10:31 pm (Home & Furniture, Lifestyle, Shopping)

These are rare 1950’s yew wood chairs designed by Alan Reynolds. They retail for 95£ (50KD approximaltely) each. I don’t find them elegant but if you want a contemporary look to your dinin/living room with a link to 1600s; their style can deliver. Not for everybody taste, but they can be, if they are used and placed wisely.

I was looking up Yew wood and found that they were used widely in the world during 1960s, especially in Europe. Nowaday, It’s hard to find this type of wood becaus most countries managed to enforce laws to potect their forests and the wild life (Well Done to that). One thing I found which is very interesting; The Yew tree is known as the Tree of Immortility…?!?!?!

Bottom First

August 10, 2007 at 6:51 am (Humor, Kuwait, News)

No, The picture wasn’t photoshopped. In London, builders who were hired to demolish this building, decided to start from the bottom (Ground +Lower floors), as you can see from the above picture. It’s amazing how the demolishing site didn’t affect the surrounding area, and everybody seem not bothered/not interested with the building and the way it was demolished===>Check the guy in the picture ^_^…

If that location was not London… but Kuwait!! Do you think that we would have smooth traffic without accidents for 1 month in one of our busiest streets? I doubt that !!!>_<

Prepare to be Frightened!

August 9, 2007 at 8:46 am (Entertainment, Movies, News)

Although I’m a fan of horror movies, I can’t say the same about the ‘Saw’ Franchise… I love all their posters and the new ones that were released recently did not disappoint me. For ‘Saw’ Fans…Soon, you will be re-united with a new ‘Jigsaw’ Story. The story is a continuation of ‘Saw III’ storyline’, reported by a number of entertainment websites (Not for me then, as I haven’t seen any of the saw Sequels .. It is set for a release date of 26/10/07…

The first one on the left is my Favourite:

Disturbia (2007)

August 8, 2007 at 3:58 pm (Entertainment, Movies, Reviews)

Kale; a teeneger who is traumatised emotionally after the death of his father in a car accident. He’s been sentenced to house arrest after unleashing a violent act upon his own teacher. Due to the boredom associated with the sentence, he shifts his attention on his neighborhood. He suspects that one of his neighbours is a serial killer ?!?!
As I love mystery/thriller stories, I checked this movie while I was on my plane to Kuwait. I had the time of the world and I couldn’t sleep due to the presence of my companion ‘Amir’.. I decided to wear my headphones and watch it.
The story is nothing original, a rebellious kid trys to be a detective. Too many easy opportunities to check on the neighbour( Suspect) and we get the usual response from the adults: ‘He’s just a kid who wants attention’… Very typical!!! As a result, we have to indure predictable scenes so that Kale find the evidence to his suspicion.
The movie is not memorable, although I had enjoyed myself watching it. It’s doesn’t hold a ‘Buy’ tag on it. It’s a ‘Rent’ movie to be watched with your freinds on a Wednesday night. Acting wise is average although I found the ‘Suspected Neighbour’ creepy; very creepy, that I wouldn’t want to have a neighbour like him living next door to me.

Quotes:

( None that caught my ears.. so None this time)

My Verdict: 6/10 …. If you don’t have anything else to do, watch it to kill your time…

Dual Mixer watch

August 8, 2007 at 9:40 am (Gadgets, Japanese, Lifestyle, Shopping)

One of the coolest watches I laid my eyes on recently. The main feature that caught my attention is the ability to set 2 time zones at the same time… That’s perfect for me as I can have Both Manchester + Kuwait’s time without adding/substracting hours in my mind (Hate maths).. check the watch and the glowing magic.

The watch is a product of ‘We are Gang’ brand, designed by Perry Yu.

Not cool enough… Check the price Tag…. 10.900 $ … 10.900 Yen which equals 25.900KD ..

…. To make the deal more accessible, If you spend more than 10,000 Yen .. You get Free shipping .. and they have a discount if you bought more than 5 watches…

I ordered one myself today .. They have a modest list, with amazing prices.

The disadvantage is that destracting japanese sympol.. but for 26KD.. I shouldn’t complain. My dad thinks it’s very trendy and can be a perefect present for a close friend if I didn’t like it.. But I will learn to like it ^_^
