happiness.. Why & How ?!

October 2, 2007 at 10:40 pm (food, Health, Lifestyle) (, , )

Happiness is one of multi-million things that we want and strive for. We thrive so many things and without any doubts , happiness is in placed on top of any {Wanted List}. I came across some people mostly patients who wants this and would love that, but sometimes you encounter some odd ones who seek happiness by doing socially unacceptable behaviour. This week I had my first session with one of those patients. In general, she was a beautiful young lady who was skinny, actually too skinny for a woman in her age and height. She’s been complaining of sensitivity form her teeth, and unfortunately her problem is what we call ‘tooth wear’ due to erosion. In lay-man terms our teeth like any thing we touch & play with,, would sometimes get worn down and that can be due to certain factors… I’m not going to indulge you with details but with this particular patient, her teeth were worn down due to erosion from her continuous vomiting habits, she is/was suffering from an eating disorder. How did I know? Clinical signs and her vague answers towards my questions as well as her obvious nervousness..She is in denial and I can’t do anything about that. My duty is to inform her of the cause of the problem but if she’s not bothered to address the problem, I can’t do a lot of this that I would do normally.

It’s sad to see people who would torture themselves to be happy. Is that happiness? In their mid, it’s the ultimate goal that would lead to a happy life or so they say? Why, Why would she do something like that. neglecting her health and her body needs, just to be skinny, why? I guess I can relate to her, I do feel the pressure to be thin and I hate it when somebody points that I gained weight and that’s why I enjoy losing weight because I hate the word ‘Gain’. Yes, I admit that I’m skinny and and well below the ‘Healthy weight’ for my height but I’m influenced by media, friends and family. Overall, I learnt to love my self and be happy nevertheless. I learnt to accept my body without depriving it of it’s needs but I’m still afraid of gaining weight. I hate it but I try to enjoy food whenever I can.  I didn’t want to write about myself, I didn’t aim for that.

Funny thing: 87% of the British population believe that they are happy because of their hobbies, 90% of which, stated that their hobbies involved gardening!!! Do you think that we should consider gardening as a therapeutic way to relieve stress!! Might consider it ^_^

My MARUKAWA chewing gum

August 2, 2007 at 2:34 pm (food, Japanese, Lifestyle, Shopping)

The one and only chewing gum that I wouldn’t live without. I didn’t think that they are popular in Kuwait and according to the manufacturer, Kuwait is one of 5 countries that they ship to, in the middle east.

In the UK, were it’s easy to buy Sushi’s ingredients and certain other items form the Far East, MARUKAWA’s products are not sold there. Actaully, they are not sold in the whole continent of Europe?!?!

I couldn’t order from Amazon, as the UK’s customs can be your best friend sometimes, and the last thing I wanted to happen, is to have a problem with them over few packs of chewing gums that are not worth more than 1KD which might jeopardize any shipment that I order.

So, Plan 1 for my summer; Buy as much as I can for September.^_^

Did you know that ‘The Tatto Buble Gum'(Check the following picture) is made by the same company ???

They have so many flavours but the ‘Melon’ Flavour is new to me!!!

Nando’s & Kuwait !!

July 24, 2007 at 1:15 am (food, Kuwait, Lifestyle, Restaurant)

Nando’s restaurants are one of the best restaurants that specialize in chicken (Not burgers, Thanks God) around the Globe. Well, that’s what I think anyway! I love their recipes that range from salads to grilled chicken. In addition to veggie burgers to our vegetarian friends. Didn’t I mention their specialized sauces. they vary from very hot, hot, medium & lime + herbs. Love it!  The food is tasty, fresh and pleasant especially under the dim lights with your friends ( A cozy feeling).  I don’t want to give a history lesson about the franchise but what’s bothering me, is that all most of the Arabic gulf countries have Nando’s Branches. That include; UAE, Qatar, Oman & KSA. Where is Kuwait from the list? I understand that the Burger industry is ridiculously escalating in Kuwait but why can’t we have well established restaurants being integrated within our community. It does hurt when my non-Kuwaiti friends talk about Kuwait inability or lets say lack of decent restaurants and in the same time, some Kuwaiti business man announce to the world that he’s opening ‘Hooters’ in Dubai. Well, We had a heated discussion today and I didn’t know what to say about that? They laughed, I was angry but I couldn’t reply because of that headache which wouldn’t go away. I’m thinking too much about my flight and I’m starting to feel agitated which is normal for me before any flights I take. I really hate flying. Anyway, Have you tried Nando’s? and if you tried it, Do you think that it should be opened in Kuwait anytime soon? And what’s your opinions in opening a new restaurants in Kuwait? Do you think it’s healthy attitude/ approach? My opinion is a little biased because I like Nando’s… although I think it’s funny how each country embrace different objects/ things ? In Kuwait, we love Café and restaurants; let’s not forget malls as well. In UAE, huge towers are being built and amazing fascinating resorts. In Qatar, A combination of what Kuwait & UAE are doing.
